Cantata for a Happy Childhood

This book reveals my secret world and my childhood memories and marks the periods of my artistic journey, leaving a lasting imprint that includes a strong dose of spirituality: that of a family interested in learning the culture and love of the arts and classical music.

Furthermore, these memories also reflect a strong psychological dimension of the periods I lived with my parents and the dates when my pictorial works of those working days and sleepless nights in my atelier, retain the exquisite perfume of yesteryear. These works are only a reflection of this period of my happy childhood, which required me to make an extra effort, to note these memories that until this moment, tear me with nostalgia despite their tender evocation.

In fact, I leave with a provision of knowledge that I had of my father and my family; with this perception of ultimate gratitude, I continued my path strewn with art, music and poetry in this rich cultural journey that pushed me toward the summit of this culture, working seriously and most of all with passion and perseverance. Moreover, I have been able to enjoy this cultural heritage that I have graciously inherited, knowing how to enjoy life with intelligence, and the beauty that surrounds me, because art is beauty.

It is the obsession with the beautiful and above all its background of light that always guided me in my work and my objective was to discover beauty in any work I did to share it, whether it was my passion for pictorial art, music or a beautiful poem that fascinated me, sometimes integrating everything to achieve the absolute power of art. What mattered to me was the global expression of a form, an idea or a musical score, to reach my goal, which is this ultimate expression, the one that allowed me to be the true bearer of ideas, values, and this is just the right role of artists, poets and musicians.

While writing these memoirs, which I entitled "Cantata for a Happy Childhood", I was thinking of "the gate of hell" by Rodin and Rilke, the great German poet, and what he said about this grand masterpiece by the sculptor Auguste Rodin, and also Rainer Maria Rilke talking about the difficulty: "It's a sculpted diary of a lifetime..."

About my "Cantata for a Happy Childhood" I say: "it is a painted diary of a lifetime, with fine pencil lead on white paper and which encompasses a whole life, a whole art and all the passion for music and poetry and life and all the difficulties I have been able to overcome". I end as Rilke also said: "The difficulty overcome is an added merit and charm..."
